FESTIVAL DER NATIONEN
ROLANDO with his fabulously beautiful voice and unique stage presence at the closing gala concert of the celebration of 270 years of Mozart and also of the Festival der Nationen.
A sheer delight to have attended seven concerts of this grandiose, impressive series, but also a sadness because this evening was the final one.
At every appearance of Rolando, I am fascinated by his unbelievable and immediate interaction with the audience, this reciprocal and mutual communication, Rolando's reaction to the signs of recognition and warm affection from the audience.
On every single occasion, I am making a useless, completely futile attempt to choose the most enchanting moment of Rolando's singing, the most beautiful notes of his voice : The warm beauty that shines and caresses, the powerful moments, the strength of the expression.
One of the most captivating things in Rolando's multifaceted art is, and this is also an axiom, that in each and every role he doesn't play, he IS the character, offering an intensity and also all colours of a performance also in concert. .
An extremely demanding vocal program with Rolando's usual intense emotional and passionate singing and dramatic depth.
Coloraturas, embellishments, vocal ornamentations ... They were breathtaking, their incredible ease was enthralling.
For "Con ossequio, con rispetto", Rolando presented Mozart's relations with prince-archbishop Colloredo, singing and also playing this fantastic aria.
