Rolando in concert at Herkulessaal
For me, the fourth evening in this amazing series.
To write a new chronicle - as easy, as hard!
As always by Rolando : a new and familiar evening at the same time.
And also as always : Rolando inhabited the stage and every character completely. Voice and acting, in a very strong unity, creating a passionate stage presence allowing the audience to experience all dramatic elements.
In my previous chronicles, I didn't write about Rolando's embellishments, ornaments and coloraturas.
He makes them with incredible ease, coloring the melody with flourishes. The trills, rapid runs being breathtaking, representing moments of intense emotions and virtuosic, dazzling display.
In each moment : masterful exhibition, great brilliance, deep artistry.
The excerpts from "The Magic Flute" with Rolando's unmatched Papageno offer special components : In Papageno's scene and his duet with Papagena, Rolando's acting is extremely lively, vibrant, full of his beloved energy.
After the delicious "cake" comes "the icing on the cake" : the encores as a tasty dessert. A vigorous, powerful "Va dal furor portata", the wonderfully rich Pamina / Papageno duet and "Con ossequio, con rispetto".
In this aria buffa, Rolando plays with all his ingenious playing skills and inventiveness, with his creative ideas to show the duality of the character. He adds flavorful ingredients to his performance.
As at every of his appearances, the audience adored Rolando, with a lot of standing ovations!
