La chronique d'Eléonore :
When you have a chance to attend several performances of an opera, it is challenging to write about it for a third time.
But when Rolando's singing and acting are there, the 'hard' job becomes a delightful task.
For this third evening too, Rolando showered us with breathtakingly beautiful moments. Mozart deeply loved Idomeneo, he composed captivating, long arias for him, and their performance by Rolando brought a legion of vocal highlights :
'Vedrommi intorno' in Act one, the fascinating 'Fuor del mar' and the fantastic trio in Act 2, the exquisite quartet in Act 3 - joining the innumerable sublime notes sung during the whole performance. Accompanied by heartbreaking moments of acting.
In the last recitative ('Popoli a voi l'ultima legge') and the aria that follows it ('Torna la pace al core'), the singing and acting art reached their apotheosis.
After every aria and at the end of the performance, Rolando was greeted by a hugest and extremely enthusiastic round of noisy applause and a lot of 'Bravo'-s.
