An evening with a unique Eisenstein
After my greatest memories from Rolando's wonderful three performance series of Eisenstein in St. Gallen 2024, the magnificent experience was repeated.
The performance in Munich was in every moment a real New Year's Eve gift for the public.
The staging by Barrie Kosky was fantastic, with a vibrant, scintillating stage play. The stage sets were minimized, but the chorus and the dancers were fabulously dressed, wearing elaborate, multi-colored costumes.
And in this bright and cheerful stage cavalcade with an absolute extravaganza, we had an unrepeatable and adorable Eisenstein.
I liked the overture with the sensational choreography, the bat-like movements of the dancers and Eisenstein in his bed with a pretty white night cap and nightgown and whom bats danced around.
Rolando brought not only his uniquely amazing voice. He was an úaccomplished movement artist, an excellent actor showing exceptional skill embodying Eisenstein, this free person, who does what he wants.
Eisenstein sings beautiful melodies, but without a pure solo for him. He has duets and ensembles with Rosalinde, Adele, Falke : the "Watch Duet", the "Champagne Song" and the most beautiful melody, "Brüderlein und Schwesterlein" which was a vocal wonder.
To conclude the piece, Eisenstein sings also in the final trio and the effervescent finale.
Rolando's acting went from subtle humor through comedy to burlesque-like moments. His movement culture being unbelievably great and his energy limitless, Rolando's performance was of highly skilled motion. He moved completely freely on stage, changing his forms of movement moment by moment.
A perfect vocal, musical and theatrical event to say farewell to the old year!
