Ein außergewöhnlicher Abend für mich, nach langer Zeit sehe und höre ich Rolando Villazón endlich wieder in meiner Heimatstadt Wien. Was für eine Freude!

Volles Programm, herrliche Arien und Duette schmetterte Rolando gemeinsam mit der großartigen amerikanischen Mezzosopranistin Kate Lindsey. Am Pult Guerassim Voronkov mit dem Bohuslav Martinû Orchestra. „Amore e Follia“ lautet der sehr passende Titel, im vollgepackten Konzerthaus werden die Künstler lautstark bejubelt. Der Programmreigen geht von Joseph Haydn über Antonio Vivaldi zu Vincenzo Bellini, Gaetano Donizetti und später zu Jacques Offenbach und Gioachino Rossini.
Beachtlich die stimmlichen Leistungen von Rolando und Kate. Was für eine Freude, Rolandos unverwechselbares Timbre in sehr guter Form wieder live hören zu können.
Schlagobers auf dem musikalischen Kuchen: oben in einer Loge sitzen Maestro Placído Domingo mit Ehefrau Marta, der Maestro sehr gerührt über Rolandos dankende Worte an seinen großen Mentor und Freund. Der bereits tosende Saal kocht natürlich fast über vor Jubel.
Vier Zugaben versüßen den Abend, Blumensträuße werden überreicht und wie üblich zerzupft,  Rolando zaubert am Schluß einen Strauß roter Rosen für seine Partnerin, wobei er in magischer Manier Rose für Rose einzeln aus seinen Jacken- und Hosentaschen herauszieht. Rolando, wie wir ihn kennen und lieben.

Rolando at the Wiener Konzerthaus

THE VOICE THAT GOES STRAIGHT TO THE HEART

Appearing on stage, Rolando was greeted with a warm, long applause by the Viennese audience. 

After my evenings in Bad Wörishofen and Zlin, I feel privileged to attend the last concert of this wonderful series offering a colorful selection of works : orchestral and vocal pieces of Haydn, Bellini, Donizetti, Offenbach, Rossini.

As it happens every single time, the very first note of Rolando enchanted me to the bottom of my heart, and this feeling remained with me until the last moment of the concert.

The two gorgeous excerpts of Haydn's "L'anima del filosofo" were followed by the "Legend of Kleinzach" being one of the absolute highlights in the programme : The.fantastic, riveting vocal performance was accompanied by a mesmerizing acting, bringing a complete and perfect presentation not only of the character, but also of the disturbed state of mind of Hoffmann himself.

Nemorino's aria brings me back to March 22nd 2010, date of my first live encounter with THE VOICE in Nemorino at the Wiener Staatsoper. And since then how many amazing, unforgettable performances of "L'elisir d'amore"... The most beautiful voice is the same..., the passionate singing and the energizing stage presence are the same.  

The duet of Bellini's "I Capuleti e i Montecchi" filled with immense sensitivity and rich in nuances delighted the house.   

In Rossini's Otello, the tremendously powerful singing and acting made the audience spontaneously burst into applause without even waiting for the end of the duet!

After long standing ovations, the completely fascinated audience got encores : In "Ya mis horas", Rolando brought infinite passion and extreme intensity in singing. 

He starts "Lippen schweigen" with his magically warm, seductive notes and takes elegant waltz steps with Kate Lindsey. The bewitching duet, "Non ti scordar di me" ends the concert. bringing adorable moments : Rolando "picks" roses from every possible pocket of his jacket. 

With Kate Lindsey with her impressive voice, emotional singing and dedicated stage presence, Guerassin Voronkov with his conducting very attentive to the singers and the great sound of the Bohuslav Martinu Filharmonie, the "team" was astonishing, enthralling the spectators.

  .   

It was moving to see and hear Rolando greeting with deep affection and respect Plácido Domingo who attended the concert.

A further exceptional evening in the admirable series of Rolando's extraordinary concerts!

UNA SERATA DAVVERO SPECIALE 

Il più recente concerto del ciclo "Amore e follia", tenutosi alla Wiener Konzerthaus il 25 novembre scorso, si è rivelato una serata davvero speciale, ed un grande e meritato successo. Come sempre, Rolando, Kate Lindsey e Guerassim Voronkov hanno riscosso la piena simpatia, i consensi e gli applausi del pubblico, ma in questo concerto gli interpreti sono apparsi davvero in stato di grazia. Sia Rolando che Kate hanno cantato splendidamente, con grande maestria vocale e grande efficacia interpretativa, e hanno confermato la loro ottima intesa nei pezzi a due voci. Il programma è stato lo stesso dei concerti precedenti del ciclo, con incursioni nel barocco (Vivaldi), nel classicismo (Haydn), nel belcanto (Rossini, Bellini, Donizetti) e nell'opera francese (Hoffenbach).  e gli stessi i quattro bis finali. Inutile dire quanti applausi ha riscosso Rolando nella Furtiva lagrima e nel suo sempre inarrivabile Kleinzach. Ha allietato e reso indimenticabile la serata la presenza nel pubblico del Maestro Placido Domingo, cui Rolando ha rivolto parole commosse, riconoscenti e affettuose, e cui ha dedicato l'aria di zarzuela "Ya mis horas felices". Moltissimi gli applausi e i "bravo" per tutti, in una serata veramente  entusiasmante.

"AMORE E FOLLIA" - Tournée 2024 : Rolando et Kate Lindsey

UN FEU D'ARTIFICE VOCAL ! 

Après les trois premiers concerts triomphaux de cette tournée de Rolando et Kate Lindsey, j'étais très impatiente d'assister -(pour la première fois)- à ce programmme, à la Tonnhalle de Zurich qui brillait de mille feux pour accueillir un public fort nombreux. 

Je ne peux qu'insister sur l'éclat de cette superbe soirée où chacun des deux protagonistes a donné le meilleur de lui-même, tant individuellement que lors des duos, brillamment accompagnés par l'Orchestre philharmonique Bohuslav Martinu, sous l'énergique direction du maestro Guerassim Voronkov. 

J'ai pu écouter en live, également pour la première fois,  la merveilleuse Kate Lindsey dont le timbre chaud, l'infaillible technique et la subtilité des interprétations m'ont enchantée.

Rolando, en très bonne forme, s'est montré à l'aise dans tous les registres et a conquis le public grâce à sa puissance, son chant nuancé et son expressivité bouleversante.

 Si je devais faire un choix de mes préférences parmi ce riche programme, (inchangé depuis Zlin), je citerai l'air de Kleinzach "Les Contes d'Hoffmann" (Offenbach) chanté et mimé par l'extraordinaire Rolando, l'air d'Irène "Bajazet" (Vivaldi)  modulé divinement par Kate et le duo  final d'"Otello" (Rossini) où se sont affrontés les deux talentueux artistes lors d'un duel puissant : la montée progressive du drame inévitable accentué non seulement par la musique mais aussi l'émotion de Desdémone, le regard plein de larmes exprimant la frayeur de sa fin proche, face à la brutalité d'Otello, aveuglé par sa jalousie. Une tension dramatique rarement atteinte lors d'une version concert. 

Plusieurs "standing ovations"furent récompensées généreusement par quatre "encore"qui ravirent le public.

Un immense MERCI à ces deux artistes exceptionnels dont la complicité évidente a contribué à ce nouveau triomphe mérité.

Ancora "Amore e follia", il 11/11/2024 a Zurigo

Un altro. bel concerto del ciclo "Amore e follia" . alla Tonhalle di Zurigo, protagonisti Rolando, Kate Lindsey e Guerassim Voronkov alla direzione della Bohuslav Martinu Philarmonic Orchestra, tutti in ottima forma. 

Il programma è stato lo stesso dei primi concerti del ciclo, ma con un'importante novità introdotta recentemente da Rolando, ovvero la sua esibizione nella "Furtiva lagrima"., tanto amata e attesa da tutti i suoi fans. E' sempre un grande piacere ascoltare la bella voce di Rolando in questa splendida aria, con tutta l'emozione che sa suscitare. 

Come già in precedenza, la prima parte del concerto è stata dedicata ad Haydn (con brani da "L'anima del filosofo"), a Vivaldi (aria per mezzosoprano da "Bajazet"),  e poi al Belcanto, con Donizetti (aria per tenore da "L'elisir d'amore") e Bellini (brani da "I Capuleti e i Montecchi"); la seconda ad Hoffenbach (brani da "Les contes d'Hoffmann") e Rossini (brani da "Otello"). 

Come sempre, il Kleinzach di Rolando non ha mancato di suscitare l'ammirazione e l'entusiasmo del pubblico, anche per la grande maestria interpretativa. Veramente buona anche l'intesa fra i due artisti, con notevoli performances nell'intenso duetto da "I Capuleti e i Montecchi", ove i due interpreti si fronteggiano ostilmente, e nella drammatica scena finale fra Otello e Desdemona nell'Otello di Rossini.

Sempre generosi i bis, di Rolando con la zarzuela ("Ya mis horas felices) e di Kate con  l'operetta ("Ah, que j'aime les militaires!"), poi con il valzer dalla Vedova Allegra e "Non ti scordar di me",. eseguiti dai due artisti insieme. Molti i "bravo" e molti gli applausi per tutti, interpreti, direttore e orchestra (davvero bravi e simpatici tutti!), con ripetute standing ovations nel finale.
