"Cosi fan tutte" recording with Rolando Villazon is shortlisted for the Gramophone Awards 2014

The annual Gramophone Classical Music Awards are perhaps the most prestigious and eagerly anticipated awards in the business: often referred to as the 'Oscars of classical music', they celebrate the recent recording work of some of today's greatest musicians. As the newly-revealed shortlist for 2014 indicates, there are going to be some particularly difficult decisions coming up this year, with 72 discs in 12 categories.

On 20th August, the top three discs in each category will be announced; the final verdicts will then be revealed online on 27th August and celebrated on 17th September in an evening ceremony at St John's Smith Square, which will be co-hosted by Presto and feature live performances from some of the winners.

Cosi FanTutte recording (Deutsche Grammophon) with Rolando Villazon, Miah Persson, Adam Plachetka, Angela Brower, Mojca Erdmann, Alessandro Corbelli and Yannick Nézet-Seguin is also shortlisted for the Gramophone Awards. The second of DG’s series of seven Mozart operas conducted by Yannick Nézet-Séguin, and initiated by Rolando Villazón. This Così fan tutte enchanted the Baden-Baden Festspielhaus audience when recorded in concert in 2012, with Nézet-Séguin inspiring his stellar cast to feats of vocal derring-do.

Fingers crossed!

  4. This is such a beautiful recording of my favourite Mozart opera! I just love Rolando's "Un Aura Amorosa" - at the end of the day when I close out the world, listening to it is like the calm flow of peaceful waters ... balm to the soul! It's a winner for me!!!
