  1. Good heavens, they're pulling out all the stops for this event! The King and Queen of Spain, an army of opera celebrities, and specially-designed costumes for the chorus? What next? Will the Pope be there? Why not just canonize the man on the spot?

I am sure this will be an absolutely unforgettable night for everyone present. You would think that this would be broadcast in the U.S. on Public Television, which shows tons of performing arts programs. I think it will be available live on satellite stations only. But I'm sure we'll see the entire program on YouTube shortly thereafter.

In any event, I salute Maestro Plácido for an amazing career and join with Rolando in wishing him another 30 years of bringing his art and humanity to the world.

    Bravo, bravo, great Maestro!

One additional thought: I would love to see Rolando show up at the gala and sing Las Mañanitas for Maestro. Wouldn't that be fun?

  6. Great news, Agente! Work has already started on this promising opera, which will star Rolando in the role of Domingo, of course. The other days of the week have not yet been cast. This highly-original and ambitious work delves into the dark, often angst-ridden, relationships of the days of week, a thorny subject many have attempted but none with success. (One thinks of Wagner, of course.) It even bravely takes on Monday's eternal existential question: "Why am I doomed to be hated until the end of time?" Surely, this daunting subject matter demands an unflinching composer of uncommon resolve, one who dares to peer fearlessly into the heart of darkness, come what may. And, incidentally, in yet another daring career debut, Rolando will also design the costumes for this ground-breaking psycho-drama, and will no doubt incur the wrath of the implacable AgenteFashion. On risque tout!
