¡MUCHAS FELICIDADES, MAESTRO BARENBOIM!
Daniel Barenboim (Buenos Aires, 1942) celebra hoy su 70 cumpleaños en la Filarmónica de Berlín, con un concierto en el que su amigo Zubin Mehta le sustituirá al mando de la Staatskapelle al son de partituras de Beethoven y Tchaikovsky, interpretadas al piano por el propio Barenboim. Siete décadas en las que el director de orquesta, de origen judío, no ha descuidado el conflicto palestino-israelí, y tampoco la formación musical de la nueva generación. La recaudación del concierto se destinará a las escuelas que el maestro fundó en 2005.
Mientras espera la reapertura de su "casa" la Staatsoper Unter den Linden de Berlin -¿para cuándo, finalmente?- uno de los mejores regalos que ha recibido son, sin duda, los 20 millones de euros que el Gobierno alemán aprobó conceder recientemente a su academia para músicos de Oriente Próximo, inspirado en su orquesta West-Eeastern Divan, que comenzará a funcionar previsiblemente a mediados de 2015.
He escogido, entre los diversos vídeos que relacionan a Rolando Villazón con el maestro, puesto que han trabajado juntos en numerosas ocasiones, el más reciente del pasado mes de octubre, en la entrega del ECHO KLASSIK 2012, donde Rolando hace una emocionada presentación del premio a Barenboim.
Los pensamientos se enredan en mi cabeza al leer este post. Trataré de ordenarlos de forma más o menos coherente.
ResponderEliminarConsidero a Daniel Barenboim uno de los más grandes directores de hoy en día (junto con Muti, Harnoncourt y Abbado), el musico más comprometido con las causas politicas que existe y (por si fuera poco) uno de los mejores pianistas de la historia.
Poco se ha escrito aqui sobre Daniel Barenboim, el Pianista, solo les puedo decir que ha grabado TODA la obra de Mozart existente para piano, Conciertos con orquesta, trios y Sonatas.
Algo parecido (no estoy seguro) ha hecho con Beethoven; curiosamente su "especialidad" son los compositores románticos, por lo que del tosijoso Chopiney Lizt mejor ni hablar.
Hoy todos celebrarán a Barenboim, el Ser Humano, el Director de la Berliner; yo, como siempre y al contrario; celebro a Barenboim, mi pianista favorito de Mozart.

Riddle #1
It's not a three-cornered room. It's not a flour-de-lis, either,
or a bent cane chair that tips back and splits two legs.
It's not a whirly-gig or footslog-- tramps in circles
that lead you to your own footmarks in the woods.
It doesn't pull to the center. It's not gravity.
It's not a capsule to Pluto, and it's not Jupiter's dust rings. It's
not Saturn's steamy hatband, and it's not my way up or way down
Neptune moods. Does it hump from its solar plexus? Can it crook,
does it bend? It's not light.
It's almost a roller coaster or jeep or four-wheel drive, because
even when its prime mover is reckless it bumps and it goes.
But it's not any of those things, not quite.
It is what you feel in a loud rain, and there might be traces
of boom in once-upon children with herringbone eyes.
But it's not as elusive as time.
Sometimes it shudders, other times it snaps like whiskers
against earbones, or bubbles like sea bees in whelk heads.
It's scallop vectors, ribbon horizons, knuckle waves.
Its limbs are motion. It unfurls and spreads.
It's not quivering monsoons,
but it might be salvos of material
tropical winds.

Oh Agente, thank you for your response. I began writing very late in life (my children were in High School)-- but I have a mentor who is a famous poet and editor. His name is David Wagoner. He's helping to edit a collection-- he's "O.K.ing" my poems, sometimes asks me to change a word here or there.... I'll post another poem-- I like to share. I'm not shy. Life is short.

ResponderEliminarThe subject is children who died of water-borne diseases because we (US) bombed water treatment plants. It's a "ghazal," traditional Persian form, in which the end word of each stanza repeats, and my name occurs in the last stanza (my maiden name "Fogle" was originally "Vogel" or "bird," in German). I probably cried more writing this poem than any other.
Things I Can't Lift
The dead. I can't pull them from their sleepy beds, or stretch gauze curtains
to invite finger-printed dawn in. I can't lift these curtains
from veined lids. I can't offer bread or water, offer
rehydration salts, raise round rough heads to gaze at curtains
coming down in spite. Between desert storms the sands were wild
and flew into the children's beds, and what we raised were curtains
flapping to a pall, their pallid night. I can't lift
their singing. Their hectic chants are brushes of lead curtains
against a silent wall. Let my dead curl in the grotto of my spine.
Let them nest in rushes, come to bed. Let me part these curtains...
let me tell a curtain from a dusty blind.
