ROLANDO in a live interview in the Studio 2 Program of Austrian Television.

Different topics, with Rolando in a very good mood, with large smiles.

He talked about his career, mentioned his presence in "Pelléas et Mélisande" in Vienna last year.

We had details about Rolando's current performances at Vienna State Opera as Orfeo, four times.

In "L'Orfeo", Rolando has a huge role, he is on stage and sings all time, mostly in the second part of the opera. He talked about his colleagues, the modernity of Monteverdi's music, and the role of Plutone.

The interviewer said that there are no more tickets, the performances are sold out, but Rolando said he will return to sing in april with Xavier de Maistre

Another very interesting topic was "El Dia de los Muertos" in Mexico, where people make altars for their lost loved ones.

Rolando makes an altar for Mozart.

Some "colored" words about his red scarves. Rolando has a lot of these, even people offer him different red scarves.

About a really exciting subject : the superstition and the habits of artists before entering onto stage.

It was a big and warmest joy to see and hear Rolando between two performances of "L'Orfeo".

La chronique d'Antonella : 

Un coloratissimo Orfeo a Vienna!

La sera del 28 ottobre seconda performance alla Staatsoper di Vienna dell’Orfeo di Monteverdi, ripresa di una precedente produzione che vede quest’anno Rolando nel ruolo del titolo, un ruolo che fa ormai parte dei suoi cavalli di battaglia.

 Davvero animata e colorata questa messa in scena, calata in un mondo fantastico popolato da creature del bosco umane, animali ed ibride, che prima dell’inizio dell’opera si mescolano con brio e humour al pubblico in sala. Molto buono il cast vocale nell’insieme, con una speciale menzione per la Musica che e’ anche Speranza ed Eco, e soprattutto per la Messaggera , che e’ anche la dea degli inferi Proserpina. Rolando, in soavi abiti floreali , e’ apparso in ottima forma vocale, in una parte che, ormai lo sappiamo bene, si attaglia ottimamente alla sua voce, possente quando serve, intima e vellutata nei passaggi più struggenti della vicenda. Inutile citare la formidabile intensità della sua  interpretazione. Il finale? Quello lieto, teoricamente, in cui il padre Apollo permette ad Orfeo di assurgere al cielo, ma con una variante. Qui, Orfeo non accetta l’eterna separazione da Euridice, e con un pugnale si colpisce al cuore per poterla raggiungere (ogni riferimento a Giulietta che si colpisce con un pugnale sul morto Romeo NON e’ puramente casuale).  I due amanti salgono così all’empireo abbracciati e uniti  nella morte, mentre lunghi nastri rossi simboleggiano il sangue sparso dal cuore amante.

 Lunghi e convinti applausi hanno suggellato la fine della serata, per tutti i personaggi, i solisti, il direttore Stefan Gottfried e l’orchestra. Altre due serate attendono ancora sulla scena Rolando e tutto il cast di questa produzione, con prevedibile ripetuto successo.
