SERATA ITALIANA - KASSEL - 8 04 26

"Una serata italiana" a Kassel

Anche il Palazzo dei Congressi di Kassel (città a due ore di treno da Francoforte) ha ospitato la sera dell'8 aprile un bel concerto del ciclo  delle "serate italiane", in cui Rolando è stato accompagnato al pianoforte, come già altre volte, dalla brava Sarah Tysman, molto affiatata con lui. Come sempre, il concerto è stato un vero e proprio viaggio nel tempo fra splendidi pezzi italiani, dal barocco di Scarlatti, Durante e Bononcini al belcanto belliniano, al romanticismo di Verdi e di Tosti, al verismo appassionato di Puccini, fino alle "canzoni" del primo Novecento con De Crescenzo, De Curtis e Gastaldon. Ognuno ha senza dubbio potuto ritrovare in questo ampio e bellissimo programma pezzi cari al suo cuore, sempre interpretati da Rolando con generosità, intensità e grande efficacia espressiva. La sua potenza vocale si è spesso dispiegata per la sala, anche con grandi e splendidi acuti, ma questo repertorio ha  lasciato spazio anche a pianissimi e mezze voci in cui il timbro e il colore vocale di Rolando risuonano quanto mai morbidi e carezzevoli. Impossibile stabilire una gerarchia nella bellezza dei pezzi e nella loro interpretazione, ma certamente le arie di Tosti e di Puccini, e la meravigliosa "Musica proibita" sono stati vertici della serata. Rolando ha anche intrattenuto l'uditorio con brevi ed esplicativi interventi parlati, nell'ultimo dei quali ha colto l'occasione per ribadire la sua "filosofia" sui pilastri dell'esistenza umana: l'arte, l'amore, il senso dell'umorismo. Il pubblico entusiasta ha offerto agli artisti ripetute standing ovations, generosamente ricompensati da ben tre bis: uno italiano, con "Ideale" di Tosti, e due ... messicani! con "Besos robados" di Del Moral e Muñequita linda di María Grever. 
Inutile dire che il concerto si è concluso in grande allegria e con grande soddisfazione di tutti!

Yes! The concert was a true joy!
The program was the same as in Zurich. This was my second evening in this Mozart series and also my second concert at this hall, after Rolando's fantastic recital on 20 August, 2016.
A warm feeling to listen to his performance another time at this iconic concert venue.
Rolando was in a greatest mood, with his cherished tremendous singing qualities, accompanied with all his unparalleled, highly special performer's skills.
As a strong bond, the chemistry between artist and audience was the most powerful, a palpable, emergent connection where Rolando's art and his charisma created a shared experience throughout the evening.
At all the concerts of Rolando, I try to choose just one aria which I adore the most.
What an impossible endeavour ... "Voi che fausti" or "Or che il dover ..." or the two pieces from "Idomeneo" .... or .... or ... or ...
I could mention each one.
Rolando sings every aria in such a magical way that makes any choice impossible.
His engaging Mozart performance, with hIs passionate singing gives an emotional impact to each moment.
In this series, Rolando introduced and presented at every concert another young artist. This time he invited Aleksandra Domashchuk, the deeply talented Ukrainian soprano, as his partner.
After three wonderful encores ("Va dal furor portata", Duet of Pamina and Papageno, "Con ossequio, con rispetto"), the amazing concert ended with massive standing ovations, acclaims, tumultuous cheering.
An amusing episode (with the permission of Rolando) :
Rolando brought two pairs of completely identical black patent leather shoes. When he caught two pieces, he wasn't paying attention, and both shoes were right-footed. And, on stage, until the Papageno aria and the duet of Papagena and Papageno, he wore these shoes.
Before the encores, Rolando laughed and told about this mistake, and by then he was already singing in his own "private" street shoes.
With the VOICE in its blooming, with its full potential and beauty, another glorious concert!

IMMENSE EVENING OF IMMENSE ROLANDO
Mozart : Könige, Kaiser und ein Vogelfänger
After a large lack of listening live to THE VOICE (on 27th of January, in Salzburg), it was a greatest joy to attend this concert.
"Voi che fausti" ... the very first notes of Rolando instantly took my breath away with their infinite beauty!
And this feeling remained with me throughout the whole evening. THE VOICE offered something extremely special, something peerless..
In "Or che il dover", "Fuor del mar", "Se all'impero"... and in all the other pieces, each note was pure marvel, a smooth caress or a powerful sensation.
Rolando's art riveted the spectators profoundly, completely holding their enchantment.
His majestically selected program allowed him to show the full spectrum of his art, creating a close connection that resonated with the audience, bringing a deep, lasting effect!
The conductor of the concert, Maarten Engeltjes sang a sensitive "Venga pur, minacci e frema" from "Mitridate, re di Ponto".
Since my first experience with them in Cologne in 2024, I love the inspiring playing style of the orchestra, PRJCT Amsterdam and their vibrant sound.
As my absolute favorite musical instrument is the horn (in all of its varieties), I was fascinated to hear it also in this phenomenal music.
And the same experience with the drums! The sound was particularly exciting.
Before his duet with the soprano, Rolando said some words about his performances in Zurich, the fantastic Zurich audience, and introduced the young, very talented soprano, Esther Aline Schneider. They wonderfully performed together "Papagena! Papagena! Weibchen, Täubchen ... Pa-pa-pa".
Rolando gave three encores : "Va dal furor portata" sung with his deepest passion and the most intense devotion, the gorgeous duet of Pamina and Papageno with Esther Aline Schneider and the last piece of the evening,"Con ossequio, con rispetto".
With this phenomenal concert aria, Rolando put the crown on this fabulous concert. A final, perfect touch to the evening, a high-end experience. Rolando's acting, his playful movements improving creativity offered thousand colored skills, and created an expressive performance accompanied with his joy of presenting and interpreting Mozart's genius!!!
And the audience? Completely under the influence of Rolando! Massive, thunderous applause, resounding standing ovations, roaring cheers.
Every form of love and enthusiasm of a fascinated public.
